Tafsir Surat Al-`Alaq (The Clot)

Surat Al-`Alaq (The Clot) -
This sura descended at Mecca and it has19 ayaat
The contents and virtues of Surat Al-`Alaq
It is famous among the interpreters that this sura is the first sura descended upon the great prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and its content as well approves it.
In the beginning this sura orders the prophet peace be upon him to read and recite then speaks about the creation of man from a value less clot of blood.
In the stage after perfection, under the shadow of kindness and compassion of Provider God it discussed about his awareness regarding the knowledge, facts and the writing implement the pen.
In the next stage speaks about the ungrateful human beings who despite the abundant divine gifts and honours preferred the path of transgression.
Finally pointed towards the painful punishments of those who obstruct the guidance of the human beings and blocks the conduct of the good deeds.
And the sura ends by the command to prostrate before the Majestic God to achieve the nearness at the threshold of the Exalted God.
The virtues of reciting the Sura e Alaq are quoted from imam Sadiq alaihis salam who expressed: the one who reads the Sura e Alaq in the day or night and if he dies on the same day or night he left this world as a martyr and the Gracious God choose him as a martyr and place him in the row of the martyrs. On the day pf judgment he is like the person who died while fighting with sword, along with prophet peace be upon him in the holy jihad upon the way of The Most High And Sublime God.
Sura e Alaq according to the various interpretations, as these words mentioned in the beginning such as:

Al-Alaq (The Clot)
(96:1)
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists),
(96:2) -
Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood).
(96:3)
Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous
(96:4)
Who taught (to write) with the pen
(96:5)
Taught the man what he did not know!

Revelation Condition:
As we defined in the contents of the sura since the most of the interpreters believe it is the first sura that descended upon the prophet. But by the definition of the most of interpreters the above five ayaat descended in the beginning of the revelation upon the kindest messenger peace be upon him and its matter as well confirms it.
It is defined in the narrations that the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him went to the Harra Mountain, There Jibril (Gabriel) alaihis salam arrived and said: O Muhammad read! The prophet peace be upon him said: I am not the reader.
Jibril (Gabriel) alaihis salam hugged him tightly and once again said: Read! The prophet peace be upon him repeated the same answer and once gain the Jibril (Gabriel) alaihis salam acted the same way and heard the same answer and at the third time said:


Till the end of the five ayaat and after this recitation Jibril (Gabriel) alaihis salam disappeared from the view of the prophet.
The prophet peace be upon him got fatigued by the rays of the revelation and came to wife khadija alaihis salam and said: cover me and spread a cloth upon me so that I can rest.
Tabrissi too in the Mujamail Bayan quoted: the prophet told to khadija: When I am alone I hear a voice (and I am concerned).
Khadija said: The Almighty God will never do you anything except wishing good. As I swear by the Benevolent God that you give back the trusted deposit. And carry out the Sille Raham (to be kind, helpful and careful with the family relations) and you speak the truth.
Hazrat khadija alaihis salam said: After this event we went to meet Warqa bin Nufel he was one of the knowledgeable man among the Arabs and the paternal cousin of the khadija alaihis salam and he said: When the master of that voice approaches you, hear him carefully and perceive vigilantly what are you hearing?
The prophet peace be upon him heard that in his solitude that he said: O Muhammad declare:
Al-Fatiha (The Opening)
(1:1)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely polite, the Most Merciful.
(1:2)
All the praises and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).

The Entirely polite, the Most Merciful
(1:4)
Lord of the Day of Judgment!
(1:5)
You (Alone) we worship, and you (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything).
(1:6)
Guide us the straightway.
(1:7)
The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favour, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.
The prophet peace be upon him heard in his solitude: O Muhammad Say:

There is no god except Allah
Then the prophet came to Varqa and defined all about that matter. And Varqa said: Good news to you, once again glad tidings to you, I give witness that you are the same person whom Isa bin Maryam alaihumus salam (Jesus) had given the good tiding about him. You have the religious law like prophet Musa alaihis salam and you are a prophet with mission (Mursal). And very soon in near future you will be appointed for a holy war (Jihad) and if I got aware of that day I will fight in the battle at your side in that holy war.
When Varqa died the great prophet expressed: I viewed this divinely man in the heavenly (barzakh) a blissful Limbo a connecting link to paradise dressed in a heavenly silken dress as he brought faith in me and proved me authentic.
Though in numerous terms of interpreters or the historical books there can be seen inappropriate matters related to this period of the prophets peace be upon him life, certainly they are the fake and an Israeli narrations that the prophet got frightened by the first revelation and felt it is an inspiration of Satan or many a times he wanted to threw himself from the height of the mountain and such other false stories which are not compatible to the elevated status of the prophet peace be upon him. And it is not suited to the extra ordinary wisdom, decision in controlling the patience and the command over self confidence of the prophet peace be upon him witnessed.
It seems these feeble and offensive narrations are created by the enemies of Islam who wanted to bring the Islam and the person of prophet peace be upon him under their uncertainty.

Definition:
Read by the name of your Provider God
In the beginning of the ayat addressed the prophet peace be upon him and said: read by the name of the Provider God who created the universe.


Some interpreted that read the Noble Quran by the name of the Provider God. And some defined that for that reason bismmillah hir rahman nir raheem is the part of every sura of dignified Quran. The interesting thing is that here it is greatly emphasised upon the matter of divinity. As we know the term rabb

means the master who takes care and looks after the well being
Then to prove the divinity of the The Dominant God laid stress upon the existence of man as the best proof of divinity is the creation. The one who is the creator, he plans his well being too.
In fact it is an answer to the polytheist of the Arab who had been accepted the Everlasting God as a creator but they believed in the divinity and plans of the idols apart from the divinity of God. Plans in the system of existence are the best proof of his holy existence.
Then from among the creations emphasised upon the important creation of the universe and a prominent flower in the basket of the creation that is man and said: The Supreme Inheritor God which created the man from the blood clot.


The above term means to stick together hence the blood clot and leach who sucks the blood are called

The sperm after passing through the initial period of foetus gets the form of sticky blood clot though it seems very value less in the initial stages of the man, to prove and bring forth the power of the Great God the thing that in the initial stage of being is such worthless reality, later it is fashioned to much valuable creation.
Some defines the Alaq as the soil of prophet Adam alaihis salam by a sticky substance. It is evident that The High and Sublime God who created this strange living being from the sticky substance and accomplished him with the entire praise and honour.
Some time the term Alaq means the one who possess the attachments and it indicates that man have the social soul. And Alaq means their attachment is the basic foundation which sets up the perfection and the progress of the cultures.
Some say the Alaq points out towards the male sperm which have the resemblance of leach. This microscopic being swims in the liquid of sperm and proceeds towards the female sperm in the womb and sticks to it and by the combination of both the sperms; a perfect sperm of a human being comes into reality.
Though in that period these matters were still unknown but the Regal Quran exposed this miracle of science.
From among these four definitions the first explanation seems the most understandable.
According to whatever we said, it is evident by one definition that it is the prophet Adam alaihis salam and by the three other explanations it indicated towards the entire human beings.
Once again to emphasise upon the matter, it adds: Read, your Provider God is the kindest among the kind and greatest among the great.

Some believe that the second

In the above term is to stress upon the subject and it is different from the Iqra which is mentioned in the previous ayat. But it is an appropriate insisting.
It is an answer to the Jibril (Gabriel) alaihis salam who said: I am not the reader that means you have the ability to read by the grace of the most Glorious and Great God. Then defined the most Kind God and said: the one who educated us by means of pen.

And taught the man whatever he had been unaware of it.

In fact these ayaat are the reply to the words the prophet uttered and said: I am not the reader that means the God who by means of pen educated the man and whatever he was uninformed he made him wide awake. He had the ability to educate, the uneducated man like you and made him capable to recite and read.
The sentence below had the capacity of two meanings,

The first is the Knowledgeable God who taught the man to read and write and by the power of this great endeavour which is the origin of the human history created in him the resource of the total knowledge, the arts and the cultures.
And further it means that He taught the man, knowledge and science by this manner.
In short, according to a definition it means he taught writing and in the other definition it means the knowledge reached the man by means of writing.
Anyway it is a meaningful term, at those sensitive initial moments of the descendent of the noble Quran which are reflected in these great and meaningful ayaat.
The points:
1 The revelation was started by the movement of gaining knowledge
These ayaat as we defined, by the belief of the most interpreters or all of them are the first ayaat descended upon the heart of the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. By the radiance of the first ray of revelation a new era started in the history of humanity. And the humankind achieved the great divine kindness and the perfect religion of the Originator God descended that was the end and the final of the entire religions.
After the descendent of the entire rules and educating the Islamic laws and rules it proved and said:
Al-Ma'idah (The Table Spread)

5:3
This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed my favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion.
The religion of the Almighty Allah reached to the completion and its blessings attained the last height of its perfection and Islam turned out to be the favourite religion of the Benevolent Allah.
The extremely interesting is that the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him being illiterate and untaught and the entire environment of the Arabian peninsula was prevailed with the darkness of the ignorance and lack of knowledge.
The initial ayaat stressed upon the knowledge and the writing implement the pen and soon after the great favour of creation of the man and the universe, expressed it in the ayaat.
In fact these ayaat first informed about the physical perfection from a value less subsistence like the blood clot and from the other side speaks regarding the perfection of the soul with the help of education and teaching specifically with the help of writing implement such as pen.
The day when these ayat were descended not only in the Arabian Peninsula which was the environment of ignorance but throughout the entire cultured world of that period as well, was very less unaware of the importance of the pen.
But today we are aware that the progress in science, knowledge and in every field of the entire cultures that the man shared is rotating around the axis of the mans writing implement the pen. Certainly the fountain pen of the scholars had been surpassed the blood of the martyrs. As the building over the ground of the martyrs blood as well as for its support, the ink of the scholars worked. And basically the future of the societies of the human beings is connected to the pen points of the scholars.
The improvement and amendments of the societies starts by the fountain pens of the faithful and dedicated believers. And the collapse and the destruction of the societies too obtain its source from the poisonous pens.
It is a praiseworthy reason to remind that the Dignified Quran pledged over the name of pen and whatever it is written by the pen. That means the tool and the product of the tool, as it stated:
Al-Qalam (The Pen)
(68:1)
Nun. CONSIDER the pen, and all that they write [with it]!
We are aware that the period of the human life is divided into the two stages.
1 The historical period.
2 The pre historical period.
The historical period is the stage when the pen, reading and the writing was introduced. The man became capable to draw something on his life with the help of his pen and leave it for the future generation as a souvenir. Like this manner the human history is the equivalent to the creation of the pen and writing,
Therefore from the begining the foundation of Islam is based upon the knowledge and pen. It has some reason that such a backward nation progressed in science and every field of knowledge to such a great exent. By the acknowledgment of the friends and foes and by the declaration of the famous Europian historians: the Muslims send to the entire world this light of knowledge and science and brightened the dark land of Europe and made them enter the era of the culure in mediaeval ages.
Upon this subject a great number of books had been written by them under the title of the Islamic culture or the heritage of Islam.
How much it is disgusting for this calibre of nation and with such a religion in the field of knowledge to be left behind, to be in need of others even depending upon them.
3 Remember the Benevolent God in every approach
In the commencement of the invitation of prophet peace be upon him it started by the name of Almighty Allah.

Very interestingly his entire fruitful life was mixed with the remembrance of Merciful God and praising Him.
His every breath was linked with stating the Supreme God, while standing, sitting, sleeping, walking, and riding, on foot or pausing, he was entirely remembering the Compassionate God and reciting the name of Allah the Almighty.
When he was rising up from the slumber and sleep he was reciting:
ی ی ی

Ibn Abbas said: One night I was sleeping with the prophet peace be upon him when he woke up, he rose up his head and recited ten ayaat from end of the Sura e Al Imran.
(3:190)
Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and there are verily the signs for men of understanding.
(3:191

Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], "Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
(3:192)
Our Lord, indeed whoever You admit to the Fire - You have disgraced him, and for the wrongdoers there are no helpers.
(3:193

Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller calling to faith, [saying], 'Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord, so forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die with the righteous.
(3:194)
Our Lord, grant us what You promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You never break (Your) Promise."
(3:195

And their Lord responded to (their supplication and said), "Never will I allow to go on vain the effort of any of you, be the male or female. You are (members) one of another, so those who emigrated and were driven out from their homes, and suffered harm in My Cause, and who fought, and were killed (in My Cause), verily, I will remove from them their evil deeds and admit them into Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise); a reward from Allah, and with Allah is the best of rewards."
(3:196)
Be not deceived by the [uninhibited and affluence] movement of the disbelievers throughout the land.
(3:197)
A brief enjoyment; then, their ultimate abode is Hell; and a wretched is the resting place.
(3:198

But those who feared their Lord will have gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein, as accommodation from Allah. And that which is with Allah is best for the righteous.
(3:199

And there are, certainly, among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), those who believe in Allah and in that which has been revealed to you, and in that which has been revealed to them, humbling themselves before Allah. They do not sell the Verses of Allah for a little price, for them is a reward with their Lord. Surely, Allah is Swift in account.
(3:200)
O you, who have believed, persevere and endure and remain stationed and fear Allah that you may be successful.
And then he said:

Ș ی ی
...
Whenever he was coming out of the he used to recite
ی ی Ș ی ی

He used to recite while entering the mosque
ی ی ی ی ی

As he was wearing a new dress he used to recite:
ی ٔ ی ی Ș

And while returning home he used to say:
ی ی ی ی ی ی

Like this manner his entire life was mixed and blended with the remembrance and the name of the God and requesting before the divine kindness.
(96:6)
No! [But] indeed, man transgresses
(96:7)
Because he observes himself self-sufficient.
(96:8)
Indeed, to your Lord is the return.
(96:9)
Have you seen the one who forbids,
(96:10)
A servant when he prays?
(96:11)
Have you considered if he were on the right way,
(96:12)
Or enjoins righteousness?
(96:13)
Have you seen if he denies and turns away -
(96:14)
Does he not know that Allah sees?

Definition:
Do not you know the Mighty God is watching you?
In the pursuance of the past ayaat in which it is indicating the divine materialistic and spiritualistic favours to the man and the necessity of these incalculable favours is the gratitude and submission of man towards the Generous God. In the ayaat under discussion it is said: However the divine favours did not liven up the spirit of gratitude always in the man but he always rebels.


It is for the reason that he feels, he is self sufficient.

Mostly this is the nature of man, the nature of those who are not trained in the school of wisdom and revelation, when they feel they are self sufficient they began to rebel and riot.
They are not the slaves of the Supreme God and officially never recognize his rules and without doubt they do not pay any heed to the voice of conscience and they do not follow the right and just path.
The man and the other creatures had never been self-reliant but the creatures are always in need of the divine favours and his benevolence.
And in the circumstance, even for a moment His favours breaks off, at that same moment each and every one will get destroyed. Whereas by mistake the man presumes that he is self reliant. The ayat delicately turns the attention towards the same fact and said: he feels self sufficient. But it does not declare that he is self reliant.
Some relate here that by man it means Abu Jahl who was the violent opponent since the beginning of the prophets invitation to Islam. But certainly here the man has the complete meaning and the examples of the Abu Jahal were just an example.
Any way it seems that the purpose of ayat is to help the prophet peace be upon him and He must not expect that the people are rapidly going to accept his religion instead he must prepare himself for the disagreement and revolt of the rebellious arrogant and he must get well acquainted with them as well that he had the chaos path ahead him.
Then it warns the egotistic rebels and declared: Certainly everybody will return back towards your Provider God.

He is the one who punish the rebel for their deeds.
Basically as the return of everything is towards him, everybody dies here and the heritage of the earth and the skies remains for the Pure and Benevolent God: As it is told in sura e Al e Imran:
Al-Imran (The Family of Imran)
(3:180)
For to God [alone] belongs the heritage of the heavens and of the earth; and God is aware of all that you do.
In the beginning everything is from the Mighty, the Strong and the Defeater God. It has no place for the man to think that he is self sufficient and turn out to be an arrogant and commence to revolt.
Then it defines some parts of the deeds of the rebels, arrogant and their disagreement to step into the path of the truth, piety and righteousness and includes: inform me about the one who oppose,

The slave, when he prays the namaz:

Does not this man deserve the divine punishment and the condemnation?
In the narrations it is mentioned that once Abu Jahl (lanatullah alaihi) asked the people around him: Do the prophet peace be upon him lay his face upon the soil. They replied: Yea.
He (lanatullah alaihi) said: I swear by whatever we pledge, if I saw him in this position I will smash his neck with my foot! Indicating the prophet they told him: See, he (the prophet peace be upon him) )is praying the namaz, there.
Abu Jahl (lanatullah alaihi) moved forward to smash the neck of the prophet peace be upon him under his foot. But when he came nearer to the prophet peace be upon him he drag himself back as if he is casting away something from himself. They asked him: what is the matter, we are observing in you? He replied: Suddenly between he and me I saw a pit of fire and the scene was vey horrible and at the same time I observed some wings.
Here the prophet said: I swear by the one, in whose possession is my life, if he was approaching a little bit nearer to me, the angels of Protector God were harshly cutting him into pieces and they would steal away his body parts. Here the above ayaat descended.
According to the descriptions the above ayaat did not descended in the beginning of the prophetic mission. But it was descended when the invitation towards the Islam was exposed. Hence a number of people believe that only the five initial ayaat were descended in the beginning of the prophecy and the other ayaat of the Sura e Alaq were descended after a long time.
In the next ayat it further emphasised and said: Inform me if this slave who punctually prays the namaz and steps upon the right path,

Or he guides the people towards the rules of piety.

Is it appropriate to oppose him? Does the punishment of such a person is other than the hell fire?
Inform me if this rebel who on the purpose to create obstruction in the way of piety and guidance of those who march on the path of truth and piety. If he rejects the truth and turn his head off from it, what will be his future?

Does not he know that the Knowledgeable God is watching all his actions and for giving the punishment and the reward, accumulated and recorded them all for the calculation?

This arrogant rebel at least should presume that the prophet peace be upon him is upon the path of guidance and his invitation is towards the piety and only this presumption is enough to bring to an end to his rebelliousness.

Points:
The existing universe exhibit the presence of the Eternal God
Whatever the man performs it is in the presence of the All Powerful God. Fundamentally the entire universe is the outlook of the Dominant God. Not a single deed and intention of man is concealed from Him. It can affect to a large extent upon the human way of living and stop him from the transgressions, in the condition if he had full faith in his heart and it changes into a firm belief.
In a narration we read: Worship the Praiseworthy God in such a manner as if you are seeing him and you are not observing him, without doubt he is watching you.
It is quoted that a man with awakened heart, after committing a sin repented and cried constantly and sincerely. He was asked: why are you lamenting so much, do not you know that the Sublime God is all forgiving. He replied: May be He will forgive me but how I erase from my soul the feeling of the shame and disgrace that he had observed me in that state.

(96:15)
No! If he does not discontinue, We will surely catch him by the forelock
(96:16)
The deceitful, rebellious forehead!
(96:17)
Then let him call his associates (of helpers),
(96:18)
We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)!
(96:19)
No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah].

Definition:
Prostrate and acquire the nearness to Merciful God
Following the above discussions of the ayat about the rebellious unbelievers and their disturbances in the way of prophet peace be upon him and the people who prays the namaz in these ayaat they fired them in extreme warning and said: as they are guessing It is not like that. He (Abu jahal lanat ullah alaihi) is thinking that he can prevent the prophet peace be upon him by putting his foot on prophet peace be upon him neck at the time of prostration and stop him in his divine cause.

If he does not give an end to his ignorance and arrogance, we will drag him by his forehead locks of his hair towards the punishments of hell.


The same rebellious deceitful forehead!


According to some interpreters the above word has different meanings to grab and drag severely, a weighty blow of slap on the face and turning the face, black and blue, finally to give nick name and to insult. However the first meaning is appropriate.
Anyway, does it mean that this circumstance happens on the judgment day and by snatching the forehead hair locks of the people like Abu Jahl, they will be drag towards the hell fire? Or it happens in this same world or both? It is not impossible to happen in both the ways. The narration given below is its witness.
In a description were read: when the Sura e Rahman was descended the prophet peace be upon him told his companions: Who is ready among you to recite this ayaat before the chieftains of the Qureish tribe?
The people present there got silent for a while as they were extremely scared of the torture of Qureishs chieftains.
Abdullah bin Masood got up and said: O prophet of God! I will carry out this task. Ibn Masood was a man of very short and lean stature he was physically a very weak man. He got up and went towards the chieftains of Qureish. They were gathered near the House of Allah, the Kaba and he started to recite the Sura e Rahman.
Abu Jahal rose up and slapped him in such a way that his ear drum was torn up and began to bleed.
Ibn Masood returned back with the eyes full of tears. When the prophet peace be upon him saw him he got perturbed and bowed his head and drowned in his grieves and sorrow.
Suddenly Jibril alaihis salam (Gabriel) descended cheerfully smiling and said: O Jibril why are you laughing whereas the Ibn Masood is tearful? Jibril alaihis salam replied: Soon you will be getting aware of its reason.
This incident passed, when the Muslims got victorious at the battlefield of Badr, Ibn Masood was moving in between the bodies of the soldiers slain in war, all of a sudden he saw Abu jahal who was breathing his last. Ibn Masood sat on his chest, Abu Jahal said: O petty shepherd! You had seated on an elevated place. Ibn Masood replied: Islam is exceeding and nothing can defeat the Islam.
Abu Jahal replied him: Tell your friend Muhammad that in my heart no other person was on the point of my extreme rage as much as him even till my death.
When these words reached the audible range of the prophet peace be upon him, he said: The Firaun of my period is more worse than the period of Musa alaihis salam because in the last moments of his life the Egyptian king said: I brought the faith but this one (Abu Jahal) had increased in his rebel.
Then Abu Jahal turns towards Ibn Masood and said: cut my head with this sword as this is more sharp, when Ibn Masood cut his throat he was unable to handle it and brought it to the prophet peace be upon him (he grabbed the hair locks of his forehead and according to the context of ayat, in this world itself happened the same way).

The meaning of the above term is the hair locks of forehead. To snatch the forehead locks means to make helpless or insulting a person and to drag a person with rudeness. When the forehead hair locks is snatched and pulled the person loses entirely the strength to move and he have no other way except submission.

The above term Indicates towards the forehead locks of a person who is a transgressor and a liar like Abu Jahal.
In a narration from Ibn Abbas it is mentioned that once Abu Jahal came to prophet peace be upon him while he saw the prophet peace be upon him standing on the rock base, engaged in the praying the namaz near the Maqam Ibrahim (a location where the prophet Ibrahim peace be upon him used to stand while constructing the kaba along with the son prophet Ismail peace be upon him and the feet of prophet Ibrahim peace be upon him left their prints on the rock, bearing witness of his great deed for all time).
Abu jahal yelled at prophet peace be upon him and said: did not I warn you not to pray here. The prophet peace be upon him ran him away by an enraged loud reproach.
Abu Jahal said: Muhammad! Why are you yelling upon me and driving me away? Do not you know the number of people in my tribe is more than every tribe upon this territory?
Here the next ayat descended that said: Tell this ignorant and arrogant man to call his entire tribe and seek their support.

And we also call the executives of the hell.

As a result, to make it evident to this negligent man that he must get aware, how unable is he, in doing anything. In the clutches of the hell operators, like a blade of grass between the storms, how fearfully helpless is he going to be?

The above term is taken from the word Nida

That means the gathering place of public, sometimes the centre of entertainment is called by this name too because there the people summon and call each other.
Daarun Nadvah is an assembly, a meeting place to take the public advice. This term too is taken from the word Nida.

The above term is the plural of

That means the administrators here it gives the meaning of the guardian angels of the hell and the angels appointed for the punishment.
In the last ayat of this sura it is the ayat of prostration which said: it is not as he is thinking and insisting you to make you depart from the prostration.

And never follow him and prostrate before his (Allahs) threshold and get nearer to him.

(While reading the above ayat as it has the compulsory prostration, the reader must prostrate).
The kinds of the men like Abu Jahal are pettier than that to prevent you from the prostration or launch a blocking rock in the progress of your religion. You, by totally relying upon your Majestic God with the help of prayers, plead and prostrations, step into this path, each and every day get nearer and nearer to him.
Meanwhile from this ayat it is quite obvious that the prostration is the means of nearness of man on the threshold of God. Hence in a narration we read: The man is most nearer to the Compassionate God while he is prostrating.
Although according to the narrations of the Prophets family Ahal Baith we know that we have four compulsory prostrations in the Noble Quran. Like the chapters:

And the other prostrations in Quran are Mustahab (recommended).

And some times they are called in the Noble Quran by the name of mutrafin as in Sura e Saba ayat 34.

And we did not send a warner to a township, but those who were given the worldly wealth and luxuries among them said: "We believe not in the (Message) with which you have been sent."
And at times they are called as mustakbirin as in Sura e Muminun ayat 67.

In pride (they Quraish pagans and polytheists of Makkah used to feel proud that they are the dwellers of Makkah sanctuary), talking evil about it (the Quran) in their gatherings at night.
Indicated towards the aristocrat population as their appearance fills the eyes of man and their inner self is hollow and empty. Secondly it points towards those who live in the comforts and affluences of life, become intoxicated and arrogant unaware of the pain and difficulties of others and thirdly they are those who are riding the carriage of arrogance and egotism, consequently out-of-the-way of the Great and Sublime God and his creatures as well.
And the source of all these things is the feeling of self reliance and to feel there is no need of others in life. And all these specifications belong to the disgraceful and dishonourable people, when they attain some wealth, blessings or a status; they get intoxicated in such a way that they began to feel needless of everybody even they forget to remember the Forgiver and Protector God.
As we know very well that by a blow of a wind this page can over turn and all the riches of man possibly can be wiped away within less than an hour or floods, earth quake or a thunder can destroy everything and his health can vanish away just by a sip of water getting blocked in the wind pipe.
What a negligence that grips the life of a group of people? And they began to feel they do not need anybody and ride over the rebellious and arrogant carriage and create the scene of the society as their circus arena.
May the Exalted God protect us from this lack of knowledge, unawareness and stubbornness.
To cast away such kind of conditions it is enough for the man to think about his unlimited weakness, the boundless and immense power of Elevated God. And turn over the pages of the history and observe the past of the nations who were more powerful and mighty, so that he is able to descent from the carriage of the haughtiness and egotism.
O the Honourer God! Save us from the pride and arrogance which is the main reason to make us away from you.
O God the guardian of faith! Do not leave us for a moment on our own in this world and the hereafter.
O the Generous One, the Bountiful and the Gracious God!
Grant us such a power, to wipe the noses of the arrogant and proud people, on the ground that create an obstruction at your way and cast them away and exterminate all their plans.
Ameen O God the provider of the universe
