Tribute to Imam Ja’far Sadeq (A.S.)
A poem by Iran’s English language poet, Dr. Hassan Najafi
No ignorance, learning is blest; Swords sing, not in blood, on wisdom's crest.
He, his brightest lightening reveals, In the shrine of his knowledge every flame conceals.
Imam Sadeq to the Prophet's Islam glory brings, Strike, louder strike the ennobling strings.
To guide a broken Ummah the Imam showed the Prophet's track Preserved it from returning to the past days black, Oh! How supremely you are blest! Islam rules from the East the West.
Melt the upraised nations’ eyes, Your grave victimized in dust lies.
The necessity is an inescapable storm Then alone rises your wondrous perfect form.
O strayed boats! Hre is the port of glory and pleasure Imam Sadeq' Lighthouse; follow its rays beyond measure.
The sounds of pilgrims court our ears And draw our sad, mindful tears.
You are one to whom our hearts dictate Your grave shines as you do without a state.
A land of tyrants has become Arabia, a den of slaves nly pilgrims give glory to the Ahl al-Bayt's graves.
To sooth the grave’s woe Tears begin to flow.
Birds deck the ground where you are laid Such the homage by nature to you is paid.
The dense night has veiled the solemn view The Mighty Prophet’s Mighty Son, to you adieu!
