The al-Aqsa Mosque in Bayt al-Moqaddas was set ablaze by the Zionists
On August 21, 1969, the former Qibla of Islam, the al-Aqsa Mosque in Bayt al-Moqaddas was set ablaze by the Zionists, who badly damaging this sacred and historical site. The Zionist regime attributed the arson attack to an Australian tourist and detained him. But a court in Tel Aviv released the attacker on the pretext that he was deranged. Meanwhile, Muslims all over the world staged huge demonstrations against the usurper Israeli regime, and a year later, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OICE) was set up to counter the threats posed against Islamic sanctities.

Military crackdown on the Palestinian combatants in Jordan
On September 17, 1970, King Hussein of Jordan ordered a military crackdown on the Palestinian combatants in order to prevent them from carrying out operations against the illegal Zionist entity. The Jordanian army, led by General Zia ul-Haq, the military attaché at the Pakistani embassy in Amman, mercilessly martyred or wounded thousands of Palestinians.
After the clashes, hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees were expelled from Jordan to other countries. Seven years later, Zia ul-Haq carried out a military coup in Islamabad to overthrow Pakistan's elected Prime Minister, Zulfeqar Ali Bhutto and seize power as the US-supported president.

Massacre of Palestinians in the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps
On September 16, 1982 AD, the illegal Zionist entity along with its Phalangist agents in Lebanon massacred over 5,000 old men, women and children in the Palestinian refugee camps of the Sabra and Shatila in southern Lebanon. The evil mind behind this bloodcurdling slaughter was Israeli war minister, Ariel Sharon.
An ethnic German, born to Lithuanian parents illegally residing in Palestine, his crimes against humanity earned him the post of prime minister of the usurper state of Israel. In December 2005, divine wrath struck him in the form of a brain stroke, and for almost seven years he is lying unconscious in limbo in what doctors call a persistent vegetative state, with most of the brain becoming fluid.

Zionist troops were forced to retreat from southern Lebanon
On May 24, in the year 2000 AD, Zionist troops were forced to retreat from southern Lebanon due to the resistance and steadfastness of Lebanese people, led by the legendry anti-terrorist movement, Hezbollah. It was the first defeat of Israel in its confrontation with popular and Islamic forces, which were inspired by the Islamic Revolution of Iran.

Palestinian author and thinker, Edward Sa'eed
On September 25, 2003 AD, Palestinian author and thinker, Edward Sa'eed, passed away in the US at the age of 68 after a long battle with cancer. Born in a Christian family in the city of Bayt al-Moqaddas, he left for the US at the age of 17 for higher studies and obtained a PhD in Comparative Literature from Harvard University. What has made Professor Edward Sa'eed famous was his relentless support for the Palestinian people and cause. He enlightened the international community about the oppression of the people of Palestine. He was elected to the Palestine National Parliament in 1977, but resigned from this post in 1991 in protest to the compromise of the Palestine Liberation Organization with the illegal Zionist entity. Among his valuable books, mention can be made of “Culture and Imperialism”, “The Politics of Dispossession”, and “Covering Islam”. His most important book is “Orientalism”, which was published in 1978. In this book, he describes how the Oriental scholars have turned into the tools of Western colonialists to somehow justify the looting of the wealth of Eastern nations by Western colonial states.
