Expert on Arab genealogy, Zubayr ibn Bakkar

On 23rd of the Islamic month of Zil-Qa'dah in 256 AH, the Qadhi (judge) of Mecca and expert on Arab genealogy, Zubayr ibn Bakkar, died at the age of 84, after being afflicted with de-pigmentation of the feet and ankles, as a result of offending a descendant of the Prophet’s (SAWA) uncle, Abu Taleb. He is the author of the book "Jamharat Nasab Quraysh wa Aakhbāruhā” and “al-Akhbār al-Muwaffaqīyāt”.
His father Bakkar was a tyrant who fell down from the roof of his villa, broke his neck and subsequently died on being cursed by the Prophet’s 8th Infallible Heir Imam Reza (AS), while his grandfather Abdullah ibn Mus’ab died three days after violating his oath to the Prophet's venerable descendent, Yahya bin Abdullah bin Hasan, after tearing the latter’s covenant, in a bid to please the Abbasid tyrant, Haroun Rashid. The family was notorious for enmity towards the blessed household of Prophet Mohammad (SAWA), although Zubayr bin Bakkar, has acknowledged in his books some of the unrivalled merits of the Ahl al-Bayt.
His ancestor was the infamous Abdullah ibn Zubayr, who stirred sedition against the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali ibn Abi Taleb (AS), in 36 AH, resulting in the Battle of Jamal, and then a quarter century later after the tragic martyrdom of the Prophet's grandson Imam Husain (AS), had styled himself as caliph, persecuted the followers of the Ahl al-Bayt, and attacked Iraq to suppress the revolution of Mukhtar ibn Abi Ubayda by rejecting the latter’s offer of alliance against the Omayyads for avenging the blood of the martyrs of Karbala. Abdullah ibn Zubayr met his brutal death in Mecca in 73 AH at the hands of the Omayyad commander, Hajjaj ibn Yusuf Thaqafi.
