Astan Quds Razavi

Astan Quds Razavi is a magnificent and a great holy organization with a glorious history of 1200 years after the martyrdom of Imam Reza (A.S.). This organization is a completely autonomous body based on its endowments and offerings and has expanded and developed continuously.
During the different stages of its history some rulers and regimes tried to weaken or destroy this holy shrine. But due to the special blessings of Imam Reza (A.S.), the real owner of this set up and the deep-rooted devotion of the followers of the sacred household of the Holy Prophet of Islam (S.A.W.), the sacred places of this holy complex has regularly expanded and its agnificence and splendour has also increased incessantly.
This expansion and development was possible on account of the love and regard the Shi'ites and the Muslims have for the Fourteen Masoomeen (A.S.), creating a great number of general and particular endowments for the holy shrine and thus enhancing the power and greatness of Astan Quds Razavi to render better services to its pilgrims.
The Holy grave of Imam Reza(A.S.), the eight infallible Imam of the Shi'ites in the world is situated in the middle of the sacred place of this holy shrine. Every year more than 15 million pilgrims from all over the world and Iran visit the holy shrine to express their love and affection and get deliverance from their difficulties and hardships and attain the spiritual and sublime bliss.
The greater part of the endowments of Astan Quds Razavi before the victory of the Islamic Revolution and during the Pahlavi regime was squandered and misappropriated by the incompetence and negligence of the trustees. The estates endowed to the holy shrine were confiscated by the government in accordance with the land ceiling reforms during the cursed Pahlavi regime. Most of these endowments were acquired by the court nobles and the high-ranking officials during the Pahlavi regime and also lost their profitability.
After the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, special laws were enacted in the Islamic Revolution Council and then in the parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Majlis-I Shura Islami) to restore the properties endowed for the holy shrine to the Astan Quds Razavi.
After the victory of the Islamic Revolution all the squandered properties endowed to the holy shrine were restored under the wise and efficient custodianship of Ayatollah Waiz Tabassi, the reverend chief custodian of Atan Quds Razavi. By implementing the compiled plans through its expert directors and with the help of the love and affection of the devotees of Imam Reza(A.S.), the holy shrine has expanded on a grand scale and new organizations, firms and companies were created to generate funds for the stan Quds Razavi. Now more than seventy companies, foundations, large economic organizations as well as cultural, social and services rendering institutions are carrying out multifarious activities under the management of Astan Quds Razavi with the active assistance of its 18000 personnel.
Astan Quds Razavi since last four centuries is enjoying an organized administrative machinery. This holy complex is the epitome of beauty and glittering exhibition of all the Islamic Iranian styles of art and architecture, which are unique in their style and nature and is also considered as one of the greatest pilgrimage centre in the world.
