Ayatollah Waiz Tabasi, the Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi

Highlights of Ayatollah Waiz Tabasi’s Life from 1934 to 2006
• He was born in a religious family in 1934.
• He lost his father - Sheikh Qolam Reza Waiz Tabasi in 1935 who was one of the most distinguished missionaries in Iran.
• He got familiar with Martyr Navvab Safavi in 1950 after he delivered speech in Navab School.
• He began his vigorous anti-regime campaign in 1956.
• He got acquainted with Imam Khomeini (R.A.) in 1956.
• According to a governmental order, he was banned to deliver speech in Saraye Mohammadiye in Mashhad in 1959.
• He was arrested and jailed for his part in protesting the co-called referendum of the government in 1961.
• As a representative of Mashhad seminary, he took a trip to Qom, and swore allegiance to Imam Khomeini (R.A.) in 1962, and delivered a speech in a meeting attended by Imam (R), and again he was arrested following that event in Mashhad.
• He was arrested in Mashhad and jailed in Qezel Qale\'eh prison in Tehran in 1963.
• He was arrested again and sentenced to one and a half years’ imprisonment in 1964.
• He was released and began his newly-planned anti-regime campaign in Mashhad in 1975.
• He planned a mass demonstration in Mashhad by the order of Imam Khomeini (R.A.) in 1976.
• The glorious victory of the Islamic revolution in Tehran and other cities was announced in 1979.
• Imam Khomeini (R.A) issued an order under which, His Excellency Ayatollah Waiz Tabasi was appointed as the chief supervisor of Astan Quds Razavi in 1979.
• He participated in the Assembly of Experts of the Iran’s Constitution Law in 1980.
• Imam Khomeini (R.A.) appointed Ayatollah Waiz Tabasi as the chief custodian of Astan Quds Razavi in 1981.
• He participated in the Assembly of Experts in 1989 as one of the members of this assembly.
• He was appointed as one of the members of the 2nd Assembly of Experts for the second time in 1995.
• According to an order issued by the Supreme Leader, he was appointed as one of the members of the Expediency Council in 1997.
• The order of his membership in the Expediency Council was extended and approved by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in 2001.
• He was appointed again as one of the members of the 3rd Assembly of Experts in 2001.
