A Modern-Day Miracle

“When the faithless plotted against you to take you captive, or to kill or expel you. They plotted and Allah devised, and Allah is the Best of devisers.” (Holy Qur’an 8:30)
Yesterday, the Islamic Republic of Iran marked the 34th anniversary of the modern day miracle that shattered the plots of the faithless Americans in the sands of Tabas.
It was blind hostility of the arrogantly ignorant Yankees against Islam and Muslims that dragged them towards their doom, and this same animosity that persists till this day in the corridors of power in Washington has seen defeat after defeat for Uncle Sam whenever and wherever it has tried to challenge Islamic Iran.
In other words, despite the passing of three-and-a-half decades, there has been no letup in US enmity towards Islamic Iran, although at present Uncle Sam has resorted to diplomatic deceit in the hope of outwitting Iranians into submission at the negotiating table, since the events of Tabas remain vividly fresh in American memory and any military move will be suicidal.
In view of these undeniable facts, let us recall the miraculous event of Tabas, where the sands of the silent desert came alive – whirling, swirling and striking with formidable force to reduce men to charred bodies and their machines into debris.
On April 15, 1980, in the dead of night, a well-trained commando force, after months of rehearsals in Egypt and Oman, had been ordered by the harebrained president in the White House, Jimmy Carter, to launch Operation Eagle Claw on Iranian soil.
While the Iranian nation was fast asleep, the airborne force made up of several helicopters and C-13- Hercules aircraft, landed on the remote airstrip at Posht-e Badam in the vast Iranian desert near Tabas, to use it as a launching pad for the planned attack on Tehran. The goal was to free the 52 American spies being at the US den of espionage (so-called embassy), and if possible to kidnap or kill senior Iranian leaders.
The Americans and the Iranian turncoats in league with them were confident of the success of their mission, and had made preparations to celebrate the toppling of the Islamic Republic.
God the Omnipresent, however, had devised His own plans as a favour to the Muslim people of Iran who had answered the call of their God-conscious Leader, Imam Khomeini (RA), to rid the country of the decadent culture of the West by establishing the popular Islamic system of government based on God’s laws.
Suddenly, a bus seemed to have appeared on the scene from nowhere, catching the Americans by surprise. It was carrying pilgrims back home from the shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad, and it was obvious the driver had either his way and veered off the main highway, or was adventurous enough to plan a shortcut via the Iranian desert.
At any rate, its appearance in this remote area made the Yankees nervous. They stopped the bus, forced the pilgrims to get down, interrogated them, and ordered them to board the American aircraft – as hostages to be used as human shields during the intended attack on Tehran.
It was but natural for the pilgrims to cry “Ya Imam Reza” and beseech God for help. God indeed helped them, and in a matter of moments, the elephantine force foundered in the desert sands, making the bewildered Yankee survivors to board the serviceable aircraft and flee to their base in one of the Persian Gulf Arab states.
The next morning the faithful nation of Iran learned of God’s favour and held thanksgiving ceremonies to celebrate its victory.
“You did not kill them; rather it was Allah who killed them; and you did not throw when you threw, rather it was Allah who threw, that He might test the faithful with a good test from Himself. Indeed Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.” (Holy Qur’an 8:17)
As a humble servant of God and a devotee of Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) and the Infallible Imams, the Father of the Islamic Revolution, had rightfully remarked: “The US cannot do a damn thing”.
Today also, the US cannot do a damn thing, even at the negating table, provided the officials and the people remain faithful to the goals of the Islamic Revolution, with firm believe God the Best of all devisers.
