Ayatullah al-Uzma Mirza Ali Falsafi (R.A.)

Ayatullah al-Uzma Mirza Ali Falsafi (R.A.) was born in Tehran in 1922. He was the son of late Ayatullah Shaykh Muhammad Reza Tunkabuni, who was one of the leading Ulama of Tehran during his period. Ayatullah Shaykh Muhammad Reza Tunkabuni was also a leading student of Ayatullah al-Uzma Mirza Akhund Khurasani in Najaf.
Ayatullah al-Uzma Mirza Ali Falsafi's brother late Hujjat al-Islam Shaykh Muhammad Taqi Falsafi was the most reputed orator in Iran and was renowned and famous throughout the world.
Ayatullah al-Uzma Mirza Ali Falsafi (R.A.) accomplished the primary and secondary courses in Islamic sciences under the guidance of his highly learned father Ayatullah Shaykh Muhammad Reza Tunkabuni. In 1946, he migrated to the holy city of Najaf in Iraq for higher and advanced studies in Islamic sciences. For sixteen years, he pursued his advanced studies in Islamic sciences in the Hawzah (Islamic seminary) of this holy city. There he attended the classes in advanced studies in Islamic sciences taught by Ayatullah al-Uzma Shaykh Muhammad Ali Kazmayni, the famous author of Fawaid al-Usul and the world-renowned
Ayatullah al-Uzma Sayyid Abul Qasim Khoee, who granted the permission of 'Ijtihad' the highest degree in the Hawzah (Islamic seminary) to him.
In the Hawzah (Islamic seminary) of this holy city Ayatullah al-Uzma Mirza Ali Falsafi (R.A.) used to lecture about 'Kifayah al-Usul', an advanced book in the fundamentals of Islamic jurisprudence. Large numbers of Tullab (students) of the Hawzah (Islamic seminary) attended his classes.
After sixteen years stay in the Hawzah (Islamic seminary) of holy city of Najaf, Ayatullah al-Uzma Mirza Ali Falsafi (R.A.) returned to Tehran in 1962. He started lectures in the advanced learning in Islamic jurisprudence in the Hawzah (Islamic seminary) of Tehran, which continued for a period of ten years. He was also the Imam-i Jamaat of Masjid Lorzadeh, a famous Masjid in Tehran during his ten years stay in the capital city of Iran.
In 1972, on the invitation of Ayatullah al-Uzma Milani, the leading Marjah in the holy city of Mashhad, Iran he left Tehran and settled in the holy city of Mashhad to teach advanced courses in Islamic sciences in the the Hawzah(Islamic seminary) of Mashhad.
From 1972 until his death on 8-2-2006, he was the most distinguished professor of the Hawzah (Islamic seminary) of Mashhad. For a period of 34 years, he lectured the advanced courses in Islamic jurisprudence, ethics and doctrine to the Ulama and Tullab in Mashhad. During his 34 years teaching in the Hawzah (Islamic seminary) of Mashhad, he trained thousands of Ulama in Islamic sciences. His lectures in the Hawzah(Islamic seminary) of Mashhad was always attended by large number of Ulama and Tullab.
Ayatullah al-Uzma Mirza Ali Falsafi (R.A.) strongly supported the Islamic Revolution in Iran. After the victory of Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979, he was elected by the people of Khurasan province to the Constituent Assembly to frame the constitution of Islamic Republic of Iran.
Till his last day Ayatullah al-Uzma Mirza Ali Falsafi (R.A.) inspite of his advanced age of 84 years was in good health condition and used to daily give lectures in the Hawzah(Islamic seminary) of Mashhad and lead the Namaz Jamaat in the Bannaha Masjid in the holy city of Mashhad.
On ninth day of Muharram on Wednesday 8th February, 2006, he suffered a massive heart attack after performing his Zohr and Asr Namaz and his soul departed to heaven.
On Friday 10th February 2006, his dead body was carried in a historical procession from the Bannaha Masjid in the holy city of Mashhad to the holy shrine of Imam Reza (A.S.) in which thousands of Ulama, Tullab and large gathering of people of Mashhad participated in the funeral procession. He was laid to rest in the holy shrine of Imam Reza (A.S.).
Ayatullah Khamnaee, the Supreme Leader of Islamic Republic of Iran, the leading Marajah in Najaf and Qum and the public in various cities of Iran and other countries conducted hundreds of Majaalis in his honor after his sad departure from this world.
