World's Longest Salt Cave
Iranian and Czech experts have discovered the world's longest salt cave in Qeshm Island's geo-park.
According to Qeshm Island Free Trade Zone Organization, Bijan Farhang Darrehshuri, the manager of Qeshm Environment Protection Organization, stated that a team composed of experts from the Czech Republic’s Charles University and experts from Iran's Shiraz University discovered a new extension in the salt caves located in Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf which is some 800 meters long. Thus Qeshm Island's salt caves have been proven to be the world's longest salt caves.
He added: "so afar salt caves in the Occupied Palestine were believed to be the world's longest salt caves with a length of 5685 meters while the lengths of Qeshm Island's salt caves has surpassed 6500 meters". The detailed report of the discovery shall soon be sent to international bodies including to UNESCO
