Jaffery Welfare Trust, Mumbai, India
Keeping in mind the tradition of our Holy Prophet (saw), JAFFERY WELFARE TRUST, had been started in the year 1979 by Late Mr. Jafferali Hasanali Panjwani, a resident of Kurla, Mumbai. He reliazed that since there is no such institution to teach the Holy Quran, there is a need of Madressa inorder to teach Holy Quran and other religious teaching to the children’s of our community. The main aim was to meet the growing religious needs of the children’s of our community. Initially Late Mr.Jafferali H. Panjwani started the Jaffery Madressa from his residence at Kurla, Mumbai, India, where more than 75 students were coming daily after Namaz-e-Magrabain to acquire religious knowledge and learning of the Holy Quran. He realized that how far the Jafari Madressa has come up in short time and the impact it had made on our community.
As the number of students grew more and more, it was difficult to accommodate all the students in a house in city like Mumbai, hence the doors of Haji Nazarali Imambada at Kurla were knocked to start the Jaffery Madressa. Jaffery Madressa started on 17th Rabbil Awwal in the year 1981 at Haji Nazarali Imambada, Kurla, Mumbai India with the support of Late Hamza Bhai Devji Jamal, Dost Mohammad Pyarali Merchant and Roshan ali Shariff Panjwani. Allah (swt) blessed the noble cause and within the first year the madressa had over 150 students.
As you will see, from relatively modest beginnings it has flourished into the full fledged Madressa and organisation it is today. This history of the Madressa serves to illustrate what has been achieved so far, and is a tribute to all those whose ideas and efforts have gone into building a healthy future for our next generation
Presently 140 students (Boys & Girls) from the activities at the madressa as the activities have grown beyond only teaching of the Holy Quran to also include teachings of Ahlebait (as). Thus, effort is made to impart complete teachings of Islam. Alhamdoillah by the grace of Almighty till now approximately 4000 studenst have directly been benefited for religious knowledge from this Madressa.
The Jaffery Madressa is the pride of the community and a tribute to the vision and foresight of those who saw its usefulness all those years ago. May Allah bless all those who have given their time and effort, both in the past and present, to help in imparting knowledge about His religion to our children.
