The renowned theologian, Shaikh Mufid

On 11th of the Islamic month of Zil-Qa'dah in 336 AH, the renowned theologian, Mohammad Ibn Mohammad, known popularly as Shaikh Mufid, was born in Baghdad. He has left behind numerous compilations in almost all branches of Islamic sciences, some of which are: “al-Irshad”, “Ahkam al-Nisa”, “Aqsaam al-Mowla”, “al-Ifsah fi'l-Imamah Amir al-Mu'minin”, and “Tashih E`tiqadat al-Imamiyah” – the last named is a critical and edited version of his one-time teacher, Ibn Babwaih Shaikh Sadouq's “al-E'teqad”.
He trained a great number of scholars, including the celebrated pair of brothers, Seyyed Murteza and Seyyed Radhi – the compiler of the famous book Nahj al-Balaghah, the collection of sermons, letters and aphorisms of Imam Ali the Commander of the Faithful (AS) – and Shaikh at-Ta’efa Abu Ja’far Tusi.
