Imam Reza(A.S.) University

Astan Quds Razavi obtained the permission from the Ministry of Higher Education ,Research and Technology and the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Training to establish its second university in the holy city of Mashhad.The top priority of this university is to first start a medical university and its related hospital. The construction project of the medical university and its related hospital started in 1991 on an infrastructure of about 46500 square meters. This medical university will be equipped with different facilities for teaching medical subjects. Furthermore this hospital will include various specialized medical wards such as Radiology, Physiotherapy, Pathology, Orthopaedic, Anatomy, Gynecology, Urology, Neurology, ENT, Pediatrician and Nuclear Medicine wards.
The other fields of knowledge such as engineering, humanities, agricultural sciences and fine arts are among those activities due to be performed. The departments of physical education and library science affiliated to the faculty of social sciences has admitted students through nationside university entrance examination for the educationd year of 1999-2000. Astan Quds Razavi has an expanded network of libraries and sports facilities. Thus educational activities in these two fields had already commenced.
The publication activities of the university have been started since 1989. The publication department has so far published 72 university book titles in different fields of study of which three titles have been selected as the Year Book in Islamic Republic of Iran.
