World’s Largest Islamic E-Library in Iran
Isfahan, Dec. 2, 2006 --World’s largest Islamic digital library with a capacity of 9 million terabytes of data and 3.5 million books opened here on Friday.
Director of Isfahan’s Institute for Research and Publication of the Knowledge of Ahl-ul-Bayt (A.S.), Nilforoushan, said this four-story library, which extends over 3,500 square meters of built-in area, aims to provide religious and related institutes with information about Islamic issues and activities.
“A number of local benefactors have provided the funds for building and completing this library, “he was reported as saying by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting.
He added that apart from computer, education and research departments, an auditorium has also been built.
Referring to the institute’s activities, Nilforoushan said the center plans to establish a comprehensive databank about Islam, use state-of-the-art methods of publication and provide Islamic research centers with information.
